August 7, 2012 Old Rochester Farmers' Market

 Week Ten of the Old Rochester Farmers' Market!  We have been able to celebrate the abundance of summertime together, and we have enjoyed it.  This week brings along some fabulous, fresh and dynamic vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meats, breads and more.  Interested in an olive oil that is pure deliciousness from California?  Omega Olive Oil brings it to you.  Are you looking for some amazingly vibrant vegetables for your menu this week, or for preserving for the winter?  Cervelli Farm and Skinny Dip Farm have you covered for your diverse shopping list.  Come along to Old Rochester Regional Junior High School between 3-7pm tomorrow.  You will be glad you did.

Performing from 4-5pm will be local favorite, Jackson Gillman.  He will put on a fantastic children's show that will be the talk at the dinner table for days to come.  Enjoy!

This week, Scott will also have available tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, summer squash, zucchini, butta squash, cucumbers, spinach, and eggplant. Corn and tomato salsa sounds yummy right about now--pick up some corn and you will be delighted with the delicious summer treats you can make with this fresh, vibrant corn.

Engelnook Farm, Rochester, MA Pesticide-Free
Eggs, Narragansett Creamery Cheeses, kale, swiss chard and meats available for order can all be found at the Engelnook tent. This week Joanie is featuring Narragansett's Vanilla Yogurt, Strawberry Yogurt, and Queso Blanco (latin farmer's cheese). Also special this week is the Renaissance hand dipped ricotta cheese.  How many lovely recipes call for ricotta?  Lasagna, meat pie, quiche, cheesecake, pizza--the list goes on....

J.H. Beaulieu, Fairhaven, MA Hormone-Free
Humanely raised, hormone free meats are available from Beaulieu Farm.  Each week, Joe drives his trailer to the market with a variety of beef and pork cuts.  Stop on in to find out which cuts are available this week.

Skinny Dip Farm, Westport, MA Certified Organic
The crop diversity at Skinny Dip Farm is impressive and delightful.  You can expect to see carrots, beets, golden beets, lettuce, turnips, peaches, tomatoes, okra, fava beans, basil, cilanto, garlic, onions, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, artichokes and eggplant--as well as fresh cut flowers. Last week, the salad greens, beets and carrots were a huge hit.

Joining us this year is Simpson Spring.  They make their own sodas from water they source from their spring.  The orange soda includes so much real orange--it is like drinking carbonated orange juice.  Ask for a sample, you'll be glad you did.  Bottled spring water from their private spring is available, too.
